Sylvia Jordan for Southfield Mayor

Building the Southfield you deserve.

Southfield is a city full of potential, and to continue thriving, it needs a mayor with vision, strong leadership, and a commitment to shaping a bright future. Great leadership means not only managing the present but also planning for the opportunities and challenges ahead. It requires a leader who can bring people together, listen to the needs of residents and businesses, and drive initiatives that enhance economic growth, public safety, and community engagement. A forward-thinking approach ensures that Southfield remains a city where families, businesses, and all individuals can flourish.

Building a strong future for Southfield also depends on collaboration—working with community organizations, businesses, and residents to create solutions that benefit everyone. It takes a leader who can inspire hope and foster partnerships that strengthen neighborhoods, enhance city services, and support the next generation. By embracing innovation and inclusivity, Southfield can continue on a path of progress, creating a city that offers opportunity, stability, and prosperity for all who call it home.

  • Let’s Bring Our Neighborhoods Back

Southfield is a city with so much potential—a place where families, businesses, and communities can truly thrive. Together, we can bring back that sense of pride and energy that makes Southfield a premier place to live, work, and grow.

Let’s return Southfield to the vibrant, welcoming city we know it can be—a destination for quality living, great schools, beautiful parks, and thriving businesses. We deserve more options for fine dining and diverse restaurants right here in our own backyard, without having to drive out of town for a great meal or a special night out.

But bringing Southfield back isn’t just about new buildings or businesses—it’s about people. It’s about being that good neighbor who looks out for one another, lending a hand, sharing a smile, and fostering a true sense of community.

Let’s re-energize our neighborhood associations, bringing them back to life as hubs for connection, collaboration, and positive change. When neighbors come together, we create stronger, safer, and more vibrant communities.

This is about more than just city improvements—it’s about restoring the spirit of Southfield. Together, we can make Southfield a place we’re all proud to call home.

  • Safe. Secure. A Place Called Home.

We envision a city where families feel protected, neighborhoods are safe, police presence is trusted, fire response is swift, and our children receive the quality education they deserve. Together, we can build a community that truly feels like home.

  • Strengthening Southfield’s Neighborhoods

I’m committed to encouraging homeownership, expanding affordable housing, and supporting property upkeep. I will offer incentives for home repairs, first-time buyers, and property improvements to help residents invest in their homes.

I will champion community beautification projects, empowering volunteer groups to enhance neighborhood entrances, maintain landscaping, and create inviting shared spaces.

By fairly enforcing local property standards and providing resources like education, grants, and assistance programs, we’ll help homeowners and businesses maintain their properties. Together, we’ll address blight, overgrown lots, and neglected buildings—preserving property values and making Southfield a place we’re all proud to call home.

  • Growing Business, Strengthening Southfield, Lowering the Tax Burden

The best way to ease the tax burden on Southfield residents is to grow our local economy—and that starts with supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs. When businesses thrive, they create jobs and boost the city’s revenue. That extra revenue helps fund important services like public safety, road repairs, parks, and youth programs—without putting all the financial weight on homeowners.

Small businesses are the heart of our community. They bring life to our neighborhoods, provide jobs, and keep dollars circulating right here in Southfield. By offering resources, training, and making it easier to start and grow a business, we can spark new ideas and opportunities across the city.

    I believe Southfield should:

Prioritize giving city contracts to small, local, and minority-owned businesses.

Offer workshops, mentorship, and business incubator programs to help entrepreneurs succeed.

Create incentives for businesses to invest and reinvest in our business districts.

Partner with local banks and credit unions to make small business funding more accessible.

Cut unnecessary red tape, making it easier to open and grow a business in Southfield.

When our businesses grow, everyone benefits. More businesses mean more jobs, stronger neighborhoods, and more city revenue—which helps lower taxes for residents while improving the services that make Southfield a great place to live.

  • Establishing a comprehensive Community Center in Southfield, equipped with amenities such as a swimming pool, basketball courts, fitness facilities, and versatile community spaces, can significantly enhance the quality of life for residents across all age groups. To bring this vision to fruition, a strategic approach that leverages existing resources and aligns with the city's developmental plans is essential.

Our city can be home to a Community Center - a center that serves as a hub for social, educational, and recreational activities, enhancing the quality of life for all residents.

It’s a plan to create a vibrant community space right here in Southfield—one that supports families, entrepreneurs, youth, and seniors with the resources they need to thrive.

The Community Center would include swimming pool, basketball, game & exercise facility and a community space available for residents.

  • Restore Trust Through Transparency: Our community deserves leaders who are open, honest, and accountable. I’m committed to fostering a culture of integrity in local government, ensuring every decision is made in the best interest of our residents
